General Comments after the exam and expected cut off
After taking opinions from the candidates who wrote the examination, we got an overall impression that the level of examination is tough to medium. Candidates who belong to the respective branch of engineering (say mechanical engineering) found the questions really easy, but they find it difficult to attend other discipline questions. This can be the case with other engineering disciplines too. The GK questions which came for 20 marks was also tough. Most of the candidates told that they attended less than 10 questions out of 20. Few friends who read eBook of Renaissance in Kerala found that all the questions from Renaissance part were available in the eBook. Taking all these factors into consideration, the cut off of the exam can go less.

Cut off mark (main list) - 38

How to Prepare for Kerala PSC Exam for Assistant Director Industries & Commerce

Directorate of Industries and Commerce

Discussing the preparation tips, it is better to arrange notes for the syllabus topics mentioned above. Most of the contents in the topics are based on combined first year engineering syllabus which is most common for all the universities in Kerala. The candidates who are preparing well with these notes will be having a high rate of success in the main examination. Notes with rich contents are available in NPTEL website also. For studying the 2nd part of the syllabus, this site will be a good choice for you. We have updated the study materials. For getting the study material then go to this link - (Study Material for Kerala PSC Assistant Director Industries & Commerce). For rest of the topics which are not updated here, then you can refer some standard textbooks, PSC Bulletins and Harishri magazines which are circulated all over Kerala. Moreover, note that the Gazette date of notification for the exam was 2015. So there are chances for asking questions in current affairs of 2015 (say, for example, Nobel Prize winner 2014-15, national film award winner 2015 etc). Please take care of these points.

Tips while writing the examination
As you all are aware, the examination is for 1 hour and 15 mins. So the best way of answering the question is to write all the answers which you know perfectly and don't waste time on lengthy questions, numerical and questions you are having doubt. Better not to attempt confusing questions as it is having a chance of arriving in a wrong answer especially in Kerala PSC answer key.
