Syllabus & Preperation trics for Instructor Grade 1 in Mechanical Engineering exam
The test will be of objective question type and OMR valuation. The syllabus consists of 2 parts
  • Technical - Questions based on Mechanical Engineering.
  • Non technical - Renaissance in Kerala, GK and Current Affairs
Technical part contains 80 questions and non technical part will contain 20 questions. It is important to prepare well for this exam as the competition in PSC engineering exams is growing tougher every day. Instructor Grade 1 in Mechanical Engineering Provisional Answer Key

Note: This answer key is the provisional answer key published by Kerala PSC. But some questions are given wrong options. For question numbers 38, 62, 74, 78 and 92; the options in the answer key is wrong.  The correct answers are as follows:

38-A, 62-D, 74-C, 78-B, 92-A

Candidates who have marked the right option as above can challenge this provisional answer key by submitting a complaint form to Kerala PSC within 5 days from this date (24.08.17). Expected Cut Off - 63-68 Marks 

General Comments & Question Paper Analysis
The exam was moderate difficulty level paper. The Mechanical questions were almost matching with the detailed study tips above. There were more questions from Production, SOM, TOM, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery. As mentioned earlier, there were no questions from Industrial Management and Power Plant Engineering. There were some lengthy problems in Fluid Mechanics & SOM and it was better to skip those questions as it consumes more time. 50 questions out of the 80 were easily scorable in Mechanical part.

Regarding non-technical questions, 5 out of 5 questions from Renaissance in Kerala was asked from the eBook mentioned above (Sample Copy of eBook>>). Among the other 15 questions, 5 to 6 questions were easily scorable. 11 to 13 marks out of 20 will be a good attempt.

According to the above analysis, the cut off expected is 63 to 68 marks. Those who are scoring more than 70 marks have good chance to be in the final merit list.
